This work begins with the question: what is humanity striving for as it so aggressively advances technology? In a modern technological civilization driven by efficiency and optimization, analog processes are increasingly omitted, humans become mechanized, and the connections between individuals gradualy weaken and fragment. What kind of environment, then, awaits at the end of this trajectory?
After the once-glorious technotopia fades, what may remain is not the achievement of technology, but its remnants and traces of use. Technology, which sought to fuly control material, ultimately reveals its limitations—burning brightly for a brief moment before disappearing. What is left behind lingers like an artifact. This work visualizes such a speculative landscape through object-based design.
All objects possess a certain persistence and identity. Yet in a world of extreme optimization, after time has passed, what wil truly remain on Earth? By imagining a future in which humanity has vanished—or a distant temporal perspective—this work considers how the technological civilization of today might endure. It reexamines the traces of “use” embedded within what remains. Ultimately, this is not merely a speculative vision, but a reflection on the possible consequences of the world we are currently constructing, and an attempt to rethink the relationship between material, technology, and humanity.
이 작업은 ‘인류는 무엇을 목표로 이토록 과격하게 기술을 진보시키는가’라는 질문에서 출발한다. 효율과 최적화를 향해 가속하는 현대의 기술문명 속에서, 아날로그적 과정들은 점차 생략되고 인간은 점점 기계화되며, 개인과 개인 사이의 관계 또한 느슨해지고 단절되어 간다. 그렇다면 이러한 기술 문명의 끝에는 과연 어떤 환경이 펼쳐질 것인가.
한때 찬란하게 빛났던 테크노피아 이후, 남겨지는 것은 기술의 성취가 아니라 그 잔해와 사용의 흔적일지도 모른다. 물질을 완전히 통제하고자 했던 기술은 결국 한계를 드러내며 짧게 타올랐다가 사라지고, 그 흔적은 마치 하나의 유물처럼 남는다. 이 작업은 그러한 미래의 풍경을 사변적 디자인의 형태로 시각화한 오브제이다.
모든 사물은 고유한 지속성과 정체성을 지닌다. 그러나 극단적으로 최적화된 세계와 시간이 지난 이후, 지구에는 과연 무엇이 남게 될 것인가. 인간이 사라진 이후의 지구, 혹은 먼 미래의 시점에서 현재의 기술 문명이 어떠한 모습으로 잔존할지를 가정하며, 그 안에 남겨진 ‘쓰임’의 흔적을 다시 바라본다. 이는 단순한 상상이 아니라, 우리가 지금 만들어가고 있는 세계의 귀결에 대한 질문이자, 물질과 기술, 그리고 인간의 관계에 대한 재사유의 시도이다.
