Craft is part of the plastic arts, making items used in our daily life. The major of ceramics & fiber arts delivers different types of skills and explores the potential of materials for plastic arts based on the understanding of the properties of fiber materials. Students create their items having functionality and aesthetics, and build up the quality as craft designers. Using earth and fibers positioned at the center of human life as major medium, this course suggests tools and products needed for the 21st-century living space in terms of food, clothing and shelter, while exploring the fundamental coexistence of mankind and arts via diversified connections and combinations with different media.
